Ashton Kutcher delivered a hand writing letter from Cameron Diaz during a press call Saturday for their new movie What Happens in Vegas.

Cameron wrote,
“first of all I want to thank all of you for your support over the years. So many films, so many weekends discussing films. I was really looking forward to this weekend getting to talk to my friends about a film that I am so proud of. Due to the loss of my father I have chosen to be with my family this weekend. But it was important for me to convey to all of you how much I love this film. We really did have the best time, most fun and laughs making it. I know that the stories Ashton, Rob [Corddry] and [Director] Tom [Vaughan] share with you will illustrate that point. I was fortunate to work with a group of truly gifted individuals that share the common denominator of a generous heart and wickedly sick sense of humor. Mimi Proves That The Show Must Go On!

Mariah Carey (my Mimi) took over NYC’s Times Square to perform today on Good Morning America and contrary to what other websites have been reporting she did a great job! During her first performance of “Touch My Body” her back-up track (which almost every singer uses during live performances) started too soon and Mimi being the true singer she is, kept right on singing live! That’s right, the show must go on! And then at around the 3 minute mark of the performance, the back-up track skipped ahead again causing Mimi to turn to one of her backup singers and sing “Stop singing my paaaarttt…now babbbby…” in order to play off what had happened. So the bottom-line is that Mimi was going to sing live along/over the back-up track for “Touch My Body” which started skipping, but as you can hear she was singing live and still can sing every note live with or without the back-up track. Take me higher lord, I would have totally lost it but Mimi held it together but I could tell she was super duper pissed as anyone would be.

Here’s her technical-mishap-filled performance of “Touch My Body” from Good Morning America today that Mariah totally worked through like any true diva should.

Philippine ‘Serbis’ Makes it to Cannes

After 24 years, another Filipino film made it to compete in the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival in France.
Brillante “Dante” Mendoza, known for award-winning indie movies like “Masahista” and “Foster Child”, has a new movie to give honor to the country. “Serbis“, a story about a rural family that decides to run a prostitute service based in a fake theater, has been nominated for competition in “Cannes”, the most prestigious international film festival in the world.
The first and only time a Filipino director had a film including in the competition category of the Cannes Filmfest was in 1984, when Brocka’s opus “Orapronobis” was accepted.
The film stars award-winning actress Gina Pareño (Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, Kubrador) and RP’s prince of indie movies Coco Martin (Masahista, Daybreak, Tirador).
Following is the list of this year’s contenders and directors competing for the prestigious Palme d’Or award on May 14 to 25, 2008:

Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 Album Enters at #1, on Career-High First Week Soundscan Sales of 463,000!!! Congratulations Mimi, that’s my girl!
• Mariah Carey crowns the Billboard 200 for a sixth time as “E=MC2″ starts atop the tally with 463,000 — her biggest opening week. It’s also the highest sales week of the year, surpassing the 375,000 start of Jack Johnson’s “Sleep Through the Static” in February. Finally, “E=MC2″ marks the best opening week for any album since Mary J. Blige’s “Growing Pains” started with 629,000.
• Carey is now tied with fellow divas Madonna and Janet Jackson for the second most No. 1 albums among female artists. Only queen bee Barbra Streisand, with eight, is ahead of the pack.
• “E=MC2″ is the eighth debut at No. 1 in as many weeks on the fast-moving Billboard 200. It follows penthouse-bows from Jackson, Alan Jackson, Rick Ross, Danity Kane, Day26, George Strait and Leona Lewis.
• Carey’s last album, “The Emancipation of Mimi,” also landed at No. 1 in its premier week, moving 404,000. “Mimi” spent two weeks atop the chart, was the best-selling album in the United States in 2005 and has shifted 5.8 million units total… This is the first time Carey has scored back-to-back No. 1 albums since “Daydream” and “Butterfly” reached the top in 1995 and 1997.

Both Gwyneth Paltrow and Mariah Carey have recently broken out their stems as the ultimate promotional tool. Gwyn’s rocked short skirts this week while stumping for “Iron Man” all over Europe, while Mariah, who I suspect came out of the womb in a minidress, worked her legs to the top of the Billboard Charts.
Mariah’s new album, “E=MC2″, will debut at No. 1 but Gwyneth will have to wait a bit longer (”Iron Man” hits theaters on May 2) to find out if her “pin plan” paid off.
But the question becomes, which one of these self-promoters has the best legs? Gwyneth Paltrow or Mariah Carey?

As earlier reported, Pop star Fergie recorded the opening number to the much-hyped 'Sex & The City' movie (in theatres May 27th); the track itself, 'Labels Or Love', surfaced today. Sampling the popular show's theme tune, the song will most appeal to fans of the Fergie/Black Eyed Peas sound. Pretty decent. I must say though, I'm more looking forward to Jennifer Hudson's confirmed contribution to the soundtrack.
