Man kicks his way through life. It was the premise on how Padyak, the new film from Breaking The Box Productions, kicked its way out of the creative womb of writer, producer, director Aloy Adlawan. Adlawan has crafted characters like Polo Ravales’ Roomboy in the 2005 Cinemalaya Film Festival and Coco Martin’s security guard in Condo. This time around, he introduces Noel, the pedicab driver played by Jay Aquitania.

Padyak uses the pedicab vehicle as a visual symbol to his theme running around the cycle of life and Adlawan’s fascination with existential exploration. The pedicab is one of the country’s unique form of transportation second to the jeepney. It uses pure human energy to transport passengers. No gas. No pollution. No global warming guilt. In July of 2008, the screenplay was given a P500,000 grant from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Then it won third place at the 2008 Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for literature in the screenplay category. Padyak boasts of breakthrough performances from an ensemble cast composed of seasoned luminaries like Rita Avila, Irma Adlawan, Bodjie Pascua and Baron Geisler. Even singer-songwriter Mcoy Fundales of then Orange and Lemons fame (now Kenyo) turns in a heartbreaking performance. Young Hazel Ann Mendoza ventures into her first indie film. Cannes royalties Katherine Luna (Ang Babae sa Breakwater) and Mercedes Cabral (Serbis) also shine in their respective roles. Angel Jacob, Arnold Reyes and internationally acclaimed actor Emilio Garcia complete the great ensemble.

Padyak is showing on March 4, 2009 exclusively at the Robinson’s Galleria Indiesine and will roll over other theaters after its Indiesine stint.

In One True Love, a medical intern named Migs (Dingdong) will have to deal with the conflict between his heart and his mind. After three years of courtship, he is about to get married to Joy (Marian), a nurse who works in the same hospital as him. However, days before the wedding, his first love Bella (Iza) returns to the Philippines. The balikbayan is still single and still in love with Migs, whom she broke up with in the past when her family migrated to the United States for their restaurant business. The women in Migs's life try to get along with each other but knowing that they are both in love with the same man give rise to feelings of jealousy and envy. When Migs gets into an accident, he develops lacunar amnesia, a type pf amnesia that blocks off time periods from one's memory. In his case, it blocks off the three years that he was in love with Joy and leaving him with memories of Bella. oy finds it difficult to accept what happened to her loved one. The nurse vows to make his heart remember what his mind cannot. But can she compete with Bella, his childhood sweetheart? Migs is confused by the attention lavished upon him by Joy but all that he remembers is his love for Bella. The balikbayan takes advantage of his love the second time around but deep inside, she feels guilty for taking away Migs from Joy. Can Bella find it in her heart to continue with this situation or will she let go of Migs? Can Migs be able to choose who is his one true love? Aside from the three main characters, One True Love will also star Bianca King as Ava, the younger sister of Migs, and Jennica Garcia as Raya, the younger sister of Joy. Ms. Tessie Tomas is cast as Mrs. Robles, the head nurse who becomes the landlady of Joy and Raya. Pinky Marquez and Chinggoy Alonzo are the parents of Migs while Boots Anson-Roa is the endearing lola of Joy. GMA Films and Regal Entertainment will bring the romantic movie, One True Love, to the big screen starting November 19

The tale of a provincial girl who becomes a faith healer is voted as the Best Asia-Pacific Film of all Time. Ishmael Bernal's film Himala, starring Nora Aunor, bested nine other Asian movies in the online poll conducted by the Cable News Network entertainment website from October until November 11. The 1982 Filipino movie Himala competed against other classics from the Asia-Pacific, namely Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (China), The Seven Samurai (Japan), Chungking Express (China), Internal Affairs (Hong Kong), Gabbeh (Iran), Gallipoli (Australia), Spirited Away (Japan), Pather Panchali (India), and Old Boy (South Korea). Himala's CNN APSA Viewers Choice Award was given during a special ceremony held yesterday, November 11, on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

The awards night was attended by more than 700 film industry luminaries from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the United States. Another Filipino film, the Cinemalaya entry Pisay, was nominated in the Best Children's Feature Film category of the second edition of the APSA. However, it lost to the Australian film The Black Balloon. Thirty two (32) films representing 17 countries were finalists in the APSA, with winners coming from Kazakhstan, Israel, Republic of Korea, Australia, Turkey, Islamic Republic of Iran, People's Republic of China and India received honors during the 2008 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) is an international cultural initiative of the State Government of Queensland, Australia, through Queensland Events Corporation and was first staged in 2007. With the help of CNN, UNESCO and the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, APSA acclaims films that best reflect cultural origins and cinematic excellence across the Asia-Pacific region. This year APSA screened 180 films.

I've always been facinated watching romatic movies hollywood or locally made, but only few tandems that really make me kilig every time i see them on tv,magazine. or movies, But these two young pair( or shall i say lovers ) really captivated ( not just me for sure) the attention of the public evrytime they make an appearance together. Being young and in love is the most wonderfull things to happen in one's life. Looking at them will remind us how beautiful to be young and in love, a romance for the first time...
Iam looking forward to see their first romantic movie titled " For The First Time" under Star Cinema which is set to release on August 27. There chemistry is undeniable, you can even feel the romance in it. They're such a lovely pair that you can even compare them to some hollywood power couple, too good to believe that they are only friends when you can even smell and feel the romance and love.
